You don't need to turn up in a seven-figure hypercar to make people nervous at the drag strip. The Autozam AZ-1 is proof of that. It looks small, almost toy-like, and most players won't give it a second glance until it jumps off the line. That's the charm. If you're trying to build something quick without draining your Forza Horizon 6 Credits, this little kei car is one of the better surprises sitting in the garage list.
Getting the AZ-1 into your garage
The Autozam AZ-1 can be bought from the Autoshow for 38,000 CR, which is pocket change compared with the usual drag favourites. You may also see it appear from Wheelspins, so it's worth checking your rewards before buying one outright. Stock, it's not scary at all. It sits in D Class with a 342 Performance Index, rear-wheel drive, and a tiny 657cc turbocharged three-cylinder engine making 63 horsepower. On paper, that sounds like a joke. In practice, it's the starting point for a very nasty sleeper.
Why this tiny car works so well
The reason tuners keep coming back to the AZ-1 is simple: it barely weighs anything. At around 1,587 pounds, it doesn't need absurd power to move quickly. Add more grip and more boost, and the car starts to punch far above its size. Its mid-engine layout helps too, especially when you're trying to put power down cleanly from a standing start. Big horsepower cars often waste time spinning. A well-built AZ-1 just digs in and goes.
A strong drag setup to start with
For a serious drag build, swap in the 2.0L R3-T engine and convert the car to all-wheel drive. That AWD change matters a lot, because it makes the launch much easier to manage once the power climbs. Add the Forza widebody kit, drag tires, 205 mm rear tires, race turbo with anti-lag, race brakes, rally springs and dampers, race anti-roll bars front and rear, race weight reduction, race driveline, and a drift differential. It's not the only way to build the car, but it gives you a sharp, consistent base. The anti-lag helps keep the boost alive between shifts, and the reduced weight makes every upgrade feel more dramatic.
Why players enjoy racing it
There's a special kind of satisfaction in beating louder, flashier cars with something that looks harmless. The AZ-1 doesn't win because it intimidates anyone. It wins because people underestimate it. That's what makes sleeper builds so addictive in Forza Horizon 6. You tune, test, tweak the launch, and suddenly a cheap little car is embarrassing machines that cost far more. If you'd rather spend smart than chase the most expensive garage pieces, saving room for upgrades or even cheap Forza Horizon 6 Credits can make this build even easier to finish, and the result is far more fun than its price suggests.
