How to Unlock the Abyss in Aion 2 Step by Step

If you’re tearing through Aion 2 and wondering why that "Abyss" button in your menu is still grayed out, you aren't alone. In the original Aion, unlocking the Abyss was a rite of passage tied to a level 25 questline. But Aion 2 changes the rules entirely.

Here, the Lower Abyss (Reshanta) is treated as a true end-game progression zone. To get in, you need to hit level 45 and meet a specific Gear Score (GS) threshold—typically ranging anywhere from 1,700 to 2,500+ GS depending on current tuning.

If you're already level 45 but find yourself locked out, it means your gear score isn't quite hitting the mark. Here is a natural, step-by-step roadmap to boost your item level, break through that progression gate, and finally jump into the Abyss.

Step 1: Blitz the Main Story Campaign

Before worrying about your gear score, you need to hit the level cap. The absolute fastest way to do this is to ignore the distractions and focus purely on your campaign.

• Rush the campaign: Prioritize every single yellow Episode quest in your journal. They give the highest chunks of experience.
• Hit level 45: Following the main story path strictly is designed to carry you right to the maximum level cap with minimal grinding.
  
  

Step 2: Clear Out Your Home Faction's Dungeons

Once your level is maxed, it's time to start the gear grind. Your map should be your primary focus here.

• Clear your territory: Run every single Sealed Dungeon and Stronghold in your home faction's map (Verteron or Altgard, depending on whether you are Elyos or Asmodian).
• Stockpile progression items: These dungeons are your main source for Devenian Crystals and enchantment stones, which you need for core character power.

Step 3: Jump Through Space-Time Rifts

To get enough gear score to unlock the Abyss, clearing your own side of the world isn't going to cut it. You have to play dirty and invade the opposition.

• Infiltrate enemy territory: Keep a close eye on the overworld map and watch for Space-Time Rifts to open up.
• Repeat the process: Cross over to the opposing faction's map and clear all of their Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds. Doing this gives you a massive chunk of the Gear Score progression you need to bridge the gap.
  
  

Step 4: Go Hunting for Monolith Feathers

There is a lot of hidden power tucked away in world exploration, specifically centered around the world Monolith.

• Collect Empyrean Traces: Explore the world map thoroughly to hunt down hidden Monolith Feathers.
• Feed the Monolith: Turn these feathers in to level up the world Monolith.
• Upgrade your Revelation Amulet: As you progress the Monolith, it rewards you with unique upgrade scrolls. Use these to morph your Revelation Amulet. The raw stats from a high-tier amulet provide a substantial boost to your overall power rating.
  
  

Step 5: Don’t Ignore Transcendence and Arcana Cards

It is easy to hyper-focus on your armor and weapons, but Aion 2 has a few background systems that contribute heavily to your total item level.

• Run low-level Transcendence: Even if you feel like you've outgrown them, do not skip early Transcendence trials. They provide easy, foundational power.
• Equip Arcana Cards: Actively collect and unlock Arcana cards. Building out your collection contributes a massive amount of hidden item level (iLvl), which might be the exact nudge you need to push past the Abyss entry threshold.
