If you've made it to Khari Crossing in Path of Exile 2, you're about to hit one of the first real wake-up calls in the campaign. The Akthi and Anundr encounter might sit inside a side quest, but it doesn't play like side content at all. The reward matters, the pressure is real, and if you've been collecting valuable drops like poe 2 Mirror of Kalandra or planning your build carefully, this is absolutely a fight you'll want to finish. What makes it rough isn't just the damage coming at you. It's the split attention. One boss is always in your face, the other is quietly turning the arena into a mess, and if you react to the wrong threat first, things go bad fast.

Why Anundr has to go first
A lot of players lock onto Akthi right away, and yeah, that makes sense at first. She's the one jumping on you, swiping, burrowing, and forcing mistakes. But she isn't the real long-term problem. Anundr is. Leave that sandworm alone for too long and the whole arena starts feeling unplayable. Poison pools spread out, quicksand patches cut off movement, and suddenly every dodge path you wanted is gone. That's when Akthi gets dangerous. Her attacks hit a lot harder when you're slowed or boxed in. So the smart play is simple: keep moving, avoid panic, and put your damage into Anundr whenever there's an opening. Once he drops, the fight loses a lot of its chaos.

How to move without getting trapped
This fight is way easier when you stop trying to stand your ground. Keep circling the outer part of the arena in wide loops. Not too fast, not too random. Just controlled movement. That helps keep both bosses visible, which matters more than people think. If Akthi slips off-screen, there's a good chance she'll come back with a stinger slam or a venom attack you won't read in time. When she burrows, don't freeze up. Just keep drifting sideways and wait for the re-entry. The quicksand is the other thing you can't afford to ignore. It looks manageable until it isn't. Step in once, slow down, and you're suddenly eating damage you should've dodged.

What to sort out before the fight
You don't need perfect gear, but you do need to check the basics before walking in. Poison resistance helps a lot here, more than some players expect, because the damage over time starts stacking while you're busy watching Akthi. A movement skill is also a must. Dash, leap, whatever your class has access to, just make sure it's reliable. This isn't one of those fights where you can get away with lazy positioning. You'll also want your flasks ready and bound somewhere comfortable, because there's not much room for hesitation once the arena starts filling up. If your setup feels clunky, you'll notice it straight away.

Finishing the fight cleanly
After Anundr is dead, the whole thing settles down. Akthi is still dangerous, sure, but now it's a much more honest fight. You can watch her animations, dodge the swipe chains, and punish the gaps instead of scrambling through poison and sand. That's the point where patience wins. Don't chase every hit. Don't overcommit because her health looks low. A lot of deaths happen right there, when players think they've already got it. Stay calm, keep spacing, and use your movement skill to reset whenever she closes in awkwardly. Beat it that way and the Book of Specialisation feels well earned, especially if you're already looking ahead and planning how to buy PoE 2 Currency for the next stretch of the game.
